| Tribes: Vengeance - Interview + Screenies
|
Dreadnought |
05.05.2004 |
Besprochen wurde in erster Linie ein neues Fahrzeug im Spiel, der Jump Tank.quote: GameSpy: OK, so this is the "jump" tank -- does it work in controllable bursts like the jetpack, or is it just one big jump? How high can it go?
Chris Mahnken: It's one big jump -- higher than me, but not high enough to be called flying. The jump is really just enough to get you past some obstacles; for instance, you might use it to jump a river that you otherwise couldn't cross. |

Is there going to be a way to make the game more accessible for players new to the series?
We?ve done a variety of things to make the game more accessible, while at the same time trying to maintain what made the original games so great. For example, many people prefer to play games in 3rd person over 1st person. The first two Thief games were 1st person only, but in T: DS, we?ve provided the option of playing in either mode.

quote: GD: A lot of attention has been paid to NVIDIA's support of Pixel Shader 3.0 - can you specifically think of anything PS 3.0 can be used for that can't be done in PS 2.0?
Tim: PS 3.0 supports dynamic conditionals and much larger Shader programs, so it becomes possible to render in a single pass what would previously take many passes. For example, a renderer can more practically combine multiple lightsources into a single pass, using a dynamic conditional to handle the properties of each individual light in a single pass.
Regarding the general question of "Why are conditionals needed in pixel Shader programs", I recommend comparing the situation to that of C programs. How many useful C programs don't contain conditionals? Approximately none! |

GameSpy.com hat das MMORPG Linage 2: The Chaotic Chronicle schonmal angespielt... hier ein Auszug:quote: Movement and character control are both fine. While both the "click on the landscape" method of movement and the layout of the user interface are a bit unorthodox, they're certainly adequate. The rest of the low-level game is a pretty standard MMO -- kill a zillion creatures and do a few quests to get started, learn some new skills and new spells, and get your first piece to new equipment... |

| Preview zu Deadly Shadows
|
Dreadnought |
22.04.2004 |
- Bitteschön:quote: Seeing as we only got the game today, I haven't managed to play through much of the game. In fact, I really only got through the first stage. But already, I've managed to pick locks, knock some people out, use noisemaker arrows to distract guards and sneak past them, shoot out torches both on walls and in guards hands, shoot arrows into some guards heads, steal lots of loot, and generally be a very seedy individual. There's something extremely satisfying about that. |

| Interview zu Unreal Championship 2
|
Dreadnought |
21.04.2004 |
Und weiter gehts mit den Interviews:
Auch die Entwickler zum Nachfolger des ziemlich erfolgreichen X-Box-Ablegers von UT2003, Unreal Championship, hatten den Leuten von Computer&VideoGames einiges zu erzählen:quote: Can we play in purely first- or third-person, or do we have to switch between the two depending on whether we want to go melee or "gun"?
Dr. Capps: When you're in ranged-weapon mode (using enforcers, flak cannon, etc.) you can switch at any time between first- and third-person. Pulling out your swords automatically switches you to third-person; you really need the extra peripheral visibility in that mode, and honestly, first-person sword fights are always a bit wonky in games. |

| Thief 3: Deadly Shadows - Interview
|
Dreadnought |
21.04.2004 |
What new locations and settings will be seen in Deadly Shadows?
Warren Spector - Thief: Deadly Shadows is set in The City, just like the earlier games. In a sense, there aren?t any new locations in Thief. But, really, all of the locations are new. The parts of The City you explore have never been explored before. Even more, Thief: Deadly Shadows lets players explore The City in new and different ways than ever before. Not only do we support traditional, mission-based gameplay but, now, we offer players freeform city sections, where you can rob and plunder at will, free from the constraints of the plot. |

| UnrealEngine 3 Video
|
Crowbar |
15.04.2004 |

Mehr unter show more ...
