text (long)
quote: Action Vault: How would you summarize the backstory that sets the stage for the beginning of the game, and what are you willing to say at this time about the in-game plot or storyline?
Ingo Horn: Some 200 years in the future, a colony is set up on a distant planet by human settlers. Ill- fated genetic experiments cause the planet's native insects to start growing rapidly, quickly turning them into a major threat to all colonists. Retreating bit by bit, the settlers eventually take refuge in a city under an enormous glass dome. Nearly all of them are killed, however, when the mutated bugs find a way inside the glass dome and take over the city. With most the human colony wiped out, it is up to the player to solve the mystery about the insects and save humanity from certain extinction.
The story is very important for us. Basically, the main reason why we chose the Unreal engine was its capability to bring our artistic vision for The Y-Project to life. There are several hundred pages of exciting events and surprising plot twists just waiting to make their way on the screen. Again, professionals from outside of the games industry will play a crucial role. Stage directors with many years of TV and film experience will be essential in bringing a much more film-like flair to our cutscenes and in-game cinematics. We will put players right in the middle of things as dramatic events unfold, getting them deeper and deeper into the story. |
