text (long) To really explain what I felt Devastation was trying to achieve I have to refer to another game. Metal Gear Solid 2 was made at a lower polycount than some might have expected, mainly because so much detail was added to the effects. This is what I feel is the intention of Devastation. Fortunately, with this version of the Unreal Engine, the relatively ?low poly? maps look great because of the detail of the ?real world textures?. But of course the effects are totally outstanding. Using a new particle system, things like sprinkler systems look real. Walking through a dilapidated building, the particle system is used to provide a bit of crumbling walls and ceilings, adding amazing atmosphere. Bullet hits benefit from it too, with gorgeous detail, especially from the miniguns.
