UnrealEngine  Devastation Interview   lara 09.01.2003
text (short)

At this time, are you able to tell us how you will support Devastation once it's released - e.g. mod and level building tools and content patches etc?

DeLeon: We'll be releasing patches, fixes, and new content for multiplayer every month or so. Some new maps are already being designed as we speak. There will be a website devoted to modding the game, as well as the many fansites which are already starting to pop up. The coolest part is that the game comes with all the tools you need to make your own game.

The editor, DEd is based off of the Unreal editor and has a lot of cool new features. The number of prefabs and decorations that will be available to amateur level designers is tremendous- there are more than any shooter to date. As of our last content drop, the number is well over 4,000. Imagine having that many things to place in your maps, and with the ability to point and click on actual real-time render previews of each one.
