Allgemein  Neue NVidia Treiber, Absturzprobleme und deren Behebung bei UT2k3   Morfeus 04.10.2002
text (short)

Random lockups, freezes and reboots are either a bug in the drivers/ OS or bad HW [hardware]. I think we can rule out driver bugs caused by the app as we don't do anything stupid the driver has to catch (like sending bad index data) which leaves only bad HW and bad motherboard drivers.
Bad HW doesn't necessarily mean the HW is broken but it could overheat which is usually a prime candidate for lockups. Please ensure your card is not overheating. If you overclock any system component - don't. If you are tech savy you could try opening your machine and see how hot it gets. Maybe try underclocking and redirecting a "real" fan to the open case and see whether this helps.

You could also try to run a memory test tool to verify that your memory is fully functional.

If you use an NVIDIA card try downloading the 40.71 drivers as they have additional workarounds for bad chipsets/ chipset drivers.

To sum it up: this is nothing we could possibly work around on the application side
