McIGN hat mit Warren Spector ein Interview zum Thema Deus Ex 2 geführt.

IGN: Going to the game, you've mentioned that Deus Ex is a melding of genres; there's role playing, action, and stealth. Do you feel that the future of games is the continuation of this fusion of genres, or do you think that there's room for entirely new genres?

WS: I think there's always room for more innovation and new things. On the small scale, Ico, I think, actually delivered a small new thing: holding a character's hand and really feeling like your job is to rescue this person, and establishing a personal connection. That was new. That was genuinely new. No one had ever done it. So on a scale, there's that kind of new thing.
