America's Army  AA 1.9 erschienen   Doomh 06.08.2003
text (short)
Von dem beliebten und kostenlosen Shooter: America's Army hat die Armee der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika ( ui ) nun die Version 1.9 freigegeben. Die Änderungen gibt es unter Show more.

text (long)
New In Version 1.9.0
New Character Class: This new update introduces a new MOS: combat medic (91W). And true to U.S. Army form, with this new MOS comes the required training. Hooah! That?s right ? this update comes with 4 different medical training courses, culminating in a field test where you put your newly-acquired medical skills to work! If you pass these training courses, you get to play the role of combat medic online and administer first aid to your troops in the field. New Damage Model: Under this new model, each bullet carries with it maximum potential damage. When injured, only a portion of damage is initially inflicted, growing more severe over time (i.e. blood loss, decreased combat effectiveness, etc).

New Missions: Not only do you get the 4 single-player training missions above, but a new multiplayer map is introduced: Mountain Pass, Second Edition.

New Interface: The in-game interface has been totally overhauled, presenting not only a sleeker look, but offering more functionality. Expect to see new features added to this interface over time.

New Character Models: All characters have been replaced with higher resolution models and textures and new animations (including facial animations and lip syncing).

New Anti-cheating Measures: one word: Punkbuster! Effective v.1.9, all US Army Official servers will run Punkbuster Anti-Cheat software .

Other stuff: player shadows (low & high detail), a new theme song, and so much more!

Extended Description

America's Army 1.90 Full Install consists of two full interlaced games. The first is Operations, an action-packed first-person 3D game where you enter into "virtual service." It also features the Soldiers adventure game portion where you undergo Army training and adventures.

Nobody knows military simulations like the world?s premier land force, the U.S. Army. So when the Army began making a simulation to let civilians experience the barracks to the battlefields, it sent its talented development teams to experience the Army as a recruit would. The developers crawled through obstacle courses, shot weapons, parachute jumped, and visited the Army bases, all to let you play Army in the most realistic way ever depicted in a computer game.

The America's Army game, which is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and recommended for recruits 13 years old and above consists of two interlaced games. The first is Operations, an action-packed first-person 3D game where you enter into "virtual service" to the United States. As part of the Army, you are bound by the laws of land warfare, Army values and realistic rules of engagement as you go through teamwork-based multiplayer networked squad versus squad operations. Mission accomplishment and a high ranking in the game are a function of team effort. Teamwork and responsibility are key, and those players that violate the rules will find themselves in a virtual jail cell at Fort Leavenworth. Values, which reflect the U.S. Army's values including loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage, are integral to your success.

Based upon standard Army force-on-force training practices, you will always perceive you are in the U.S. Army. Your comrades always appear to be in U.S. uniforms while the opposing force always appears to be in opposing force uniforms with appropriate weapons. You can even recover and employ opposing force weapons during battle.

America's Army also features the Soldiers adventure game portion where you undergo Army training and adventures while encountering tactical, technical and physical challenges - similar to issues soldiers might face in their first tour of duty while on and off duty. Training missions teach basic character controls and movements and proper weapons usage for official ammunition like automatic weapons, assault rifles, smoke grenades and sniper rifles.

Training is put to the test when you encounter Operations' multiplayer missions including airborne drops to seize an airfield, raids on enemy headquarters deep in the swamps, raids around the globe to disrupt illegal arms transfers, and missions in defense of freedom and to thwart terrorists.

Each mission begins with players selecting their team and role within their team. Realistic infantry roles, such as grenadier, rifleman, and fire team leader are incorporated into missions according to Army doctrine. Communication includes shouted and whispered commands, radio messages and -- in a game industry first -- genuine military hand and arm signals. Also included in the networked play are training missions in which laser engagement systems mirror Army training to simulate combat.

When additional Soldiers missions are released in 2003, they will interlace with Operations to yield a interactive game experience in which progress in either Soldiers or Operations will open new capabilities and opportunities in the other game for players to explore Army career opportunities and adventures.
