America's Army  America's Army: Soldiers Interview   lara 08.12.2002
text (short)
MilitarySIM hat ein Interview mit den Machern hinter dem Game veröffentlicht.

quote:
MS: OK, first question. A lot of people don't know exactly what America's Army: Soldiers will be, can you please enlighten us?

Skorzeny: Soldiers is not like Operations - it is not a 3D online interactive environment with lots of action, it is more like a character-management game, with video sequences detailing your problems, achievements, and impressions of training.

text (long)
quote:
There are scenes (like conversations, mistakes, classes, etc.) and montages (letters home, impressions, specific reactions to events). It is almost the same sort of genre as The Sims or Sid Meier's Civilization - you try to keep your character from going wrong by emphasizing the Army Core Values and improving your skills through a balance of values and goals. More skills and goals will be presented as other, prerequisite, goals are completed. Your Values are initially set by you, then increase as you achieve goals. As you grow as an individual and as a soldier, you will also be receiving training in a particular Career Management Field (CMF). The game will start with only a few CMFs available, but, like Operations, it will undergo continuous improvement, including extending the length of the career path, adding more CMFs, and introducing new skills, goals, scenes, and impressions.
